Steven Gerrard has said that he will wait to see "what opportunities come along" before making a decision on his future.
The former Liverpool and England captain is currently playing for MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy but he has admitted that retirement is a possibility at the end of the season.
The 36-year-old told the Liverpool Echo: "I haven't made a concrete decision. I do know there's not long left. I'm just waiting to see what happens and taking it week by week, seeing the last few months out of this season.
"I haven't sat down with the Galaxy to speak about my future. It's a bit up in the air at the moment. I'll certainly miss it because I love it. I enjoy training the same as I did 10 or 15 years ago. The body's obviously talking to me a bit.
"There's a good chance I could play on next season but there's a good chance that I won't. It all depends on what opportunities come along in the next four to six months."
While playing in California, Gerrard is in the process of taking his coaching badges.
