Liverpool striker Luis Suarez admits that he must control his angry streak on the pitch to hit top form.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted that he needs to control his anger on the pitch to perform at the highest level.

Suarez missed a number of chances in Liverpool's Premier League opener against West Bromwich Albion, a disappointing 3-0 defeat.

In an interview with The Guardian, Suarez said he is aware that he needs to work on controlling his temper but feels misunderstood by some onlookers.

"I get angry, I get tense. My wife says that if people reach conclusions as to what I am like based on what they see from me on the pitch they would say I am a guy who is always annoyed, always in a bad mood," he said.

"They'd say what must it be like to live with me. There are two of me, two different people. I have sacrificed so much to be where I am and fought so hard for it. I can't conceive of anyone wasting even five minutes in a game."

Suarez also insisted that he believes manager Brendan Rodgers will bring success to Anfield if given time.

He said: "It is a new season, we have a new coach, a new idea, a new style that is different to the one we had before and that's difficult. It will work, but it will take time."

Suarez will lead the line for Liverpool on Sunday as they host champions Manchester City.
