Damien Comolli: 'Liverpool should keep Luis Suarez'

Former Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli says that the club should keep Luis Suarez at Anfield this season, despite his ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini.

Former Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has said that the Merseyside club should keep Luis Suarez at Anfield this season, despite his latest biting controversy.

The striker has been banned for four months after biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini while playing for Uruguay at the World Cup in Brazil.

The ban has thrown the 27-year-old's future into doubt but Comolli, who was involved in signing Suarez for Liverpool in 2011, believes that he is too unique to sell.

"Who do you replace him with? There is nobody like him around," Comolli told BBC Radio 5 live.

"If there was, Real Madrid and Barcelona would go after them and not Suarez. If there was a buying club and they felt Liverpool would sell, they will take advantage and try to drive the price down."

The incident is the third time that Suarez has been suspended for biting an opponent.
