Former Liverpool goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis joins Carlisle United

Carlisle United sign former Liverpool goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis on a short-term contract until April 23.

Carlisle United have signed former Liverpool goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis on a short-term contract until April 23.

The 23-year-old Australian, who had been on trial with the Cumbrians, could make his debut in tonight's League One clash with MK Dons at Brunton Park.

Despite signing a three-year contract at Anfield in 2007, Bouzanis failed to make a single first-team appearance for Liverpool.

He left the Reds in 2011 and went on to play 45 Football League games for Oldham Athletic, before spending the early part of this season at Greek side Aris Salonika.

Bouzanis will become the fourth goalkeeper to play for Carlisle in 2014, after Ben Amos and Greg Fleming.
