Report: Liverpool step up Adam Lallana pursuit

A report suggests that Liverpool will use striker Fabio Borini as a makeweight in their pursuit to land Adam Lallana from Southampton.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to use striker Fabio Borini as a makeweight in their pursuit of landing Southampton's Adam Lallana.

The Reds have been told that they must pay a large fee to capture the 26-year-old, with the St Mary's outfit said to be holding out for £30m.

A report in The Express claims that Liverpool have offered a fee of around £25m for the England international, while Borini could now also be included in that deal.

The Italian fell out of favour at Anfield after joining the club from Parma, but he impressed last season on loan at Sunderland.

Liverpool have already completed the capture of Rickie Lambert from Southampton this summer.
