Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers vows to hunt for new striker before window closes

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists that he will search for a new striker until the summer transfer window closes.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he will continue looking for a new striker to sign before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

The Merseyside outfit have made seven signings and are close to their eighth due to the impending arrival of Sevilla full-back Alberto Moreno.

However, the Reds, who finished two points behind champions Manchester City last season, are yet to replace Luis Suarez, who joined Barcelona for a reported £75m fee earlier this summer.

The only players who Rodgers has brought into the strikeforce are Rickie Lambert and Divock Origi, who has been loaned back to Lille for the upcoming season.

"We haven't brought in another striker other than Rickie Lambert but we aim to do that," Rodgers said in today's press conference. "If we don't, it means the right player hasn't become available for us, and if that is the case we will continue with the group we have and I will be happy to go into the season with that team."

Liverpool have been linked to a number of forwards, including Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Wilfried Bony.
