Lyon right-back Christophe Jallet has said that his side's 1-1 draw with Gent in the Champions League showed that they are not yet ready to compete at the top level of European football.
The 31-year-old had put the Ligue 1 side ahead last night but Gent levelled soon after despite having a man sent off after 41 minutes.
Alexandre Lacazette missed a late penalty that would have seen Lyon defeat the Belgian side, who were reduced to nine men by the end of the game, but Jallet believes that his team were outplayed.
The defender told Canal Plus: "We were shifted around this evening, even when they had 10 players. We asked ourselves if we were a European team, we have proved that we aren't really for the moment."
Lyon are in league action on Sunday evening as they head south to face rivals Marseille.
