Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Sevilla.

Manchester City will be without goal machine Erling Braut Haaland for Wednesday's Champions League clash against Sevilla at the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens have already qualified for the last 16 as Group G winners and Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the 22-year-old will not be involved as he recovers from "ligament damage", with the Spaniard hopeful he can return against Fulham on Saturday.

Cole Palmer was not fully fit to feature last weekend and is doubtful for the game against Sevilla, while Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips both remain out, although the latter has taken part in light training sessions since recovering from shoulder surgery and is pushing to be involved before the World Cup.

Guardiola made seven changes to his starting lineup in the 1-0 Premier League win over Leicester City on Saturday and the City boss is expected to freshen up his side again on Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega was handed his club debut in the goalless Champions League draw away at Borussia Dortmund last week and he could be in line to make his first appearance at the Etihad ahead of first-choice stopper Ederson.

Guardiola may also consider giving academy graduates Rico Lewis and Josh Wilson-Esbrand run-outs at full-back either from the start or off the substitutes' bench. Meanwhile, Sergio Gomez – who was suspended for the draw with BVB – is available for selection and will be pushing to start at left-back.

Bernardo Silva operated on the right side of the front three last weekend, but he could drop further back into the midfield three if Guardiola decides to bench at least one of Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri or Ilkay Gundogan.

Riyad Mahrez or Phil Foden – who both began on the bench against Leicester – could deputise on the right flank as a result, joining Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez in attack.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ortega; Cancelo, Dias, Ake, Gomez; Bernardo, Rodri, Gundogan; Foden, Alvarez, Grealish
