Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Everton

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Everton on Wednesday.

Following a successful sojourn in Saudi Arabia, Manchester City return to the Premier League landscape with a trip to Goodison Park to tackle Everton on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola's troops stormed to Club World Cup stardom with a 4-0 thrashing of South American champions Fluminense on Friday evening, where a Julian Alvarez brace, Nino own goal and Phil Foden tap-in clinched the Citizens' fifth trophy of the year.

Temporarily postponing their top-flight engagements, Man City resume their faltering title charge having dropped to fifth in the table on account of their agonising 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on December 16.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Sean Dyche's team, whose 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur bumped the Citizens out of the Champions League places.

Rodri

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: December 27 (vs. Everton)

In the second half of the Club World Cup final, Rodri was the victim of what he labelled the worst tackle of his career, having been scythed down from behind by Fluminense's Alexsander. The Spaniard tried to carry on before calling it a night, but he played down his concern after the win and has insisted that he will be fit for Wednesday's game.

Kevin De Bruyne

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: December 27 (vs. Everton)

Kevin De Bruyne linked up with the Man City squad for the Club World Cup and was even able to take part in training in the Middle East, but he did not play a single minute in the tournament, and it is touch-and-go whether he will be able to make his comeback on Merseyside.

Erling Haaland

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: December 27 (vs. Everton)

Likewise, Erling Haaland watched City's two Club World Cup fixtures from the sidelines on account of his foot injury and tournament rules, which stated that players not named in a semi-final squad could not feature in the final, but he will be pushing to return at Goodison Park.

Jeremy Doku

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: December 27 (vs. Everton)

Jeremy Doku was Man City's third notable absentee from their Club World Cup campaign due to his muscular injury, but there is optimism that the Belgian will be fine to face the Toffees.
