Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony: 'I will replace Sergio Aguero's goals'

Wilfried Bony says that he will shoulder the goalscoring burden after in-form Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was ruled out for a month.

Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony has claimed that he is capable of filling the goalscoring void left by the injured Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine, who has netted eight times in 11 City appearances this season, is expected to be sidelined for roughly a month after picking up a hamstring problem on international duty.

Consequently, Bony, who has scored just twice since securing a £28m move from Swansea City in January, knows that he now must step up to the plate.

"It's never good when your team-mates are injured but that's the way football goes sometimes," Bony told the club's official website.

"Now I need to take things game by game and work hard. I have to take my chance and score goals for the team – that's why I'm here.

"My first concern is helping my team-mates and playing my part - we'll see how things go starting this Saturday against Bournemouth."

Aguero's last appearance for the Sky Blues yielded five goals as the Premier League leaders thumped Newcastle United 6-1 prior to the international break.
