Vincent Kompany insists he is fit for Manchester City following Belgium run-out

Vincent Kompany insists that he is fit to play for Manchester City after featuring for Belgium in their victory over Israel on Tuesday night.

Vincent Kompany has eased fitness concerns by insisting that he is ready to play for Manchester City following a five-game absence.

The club captain, who has been struggling with a calf injury, was not expected to play in Belgium's final two Euro 2016 qualifiers, but he featured for an hour in last night's 3-1 victory over Israel.

The defender is now likely to play in Saturday's Premier League match against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.

"I feel great and I'm glad I got to do it," Kompany told Sky Sports News. "It's going again now and I'm looking forward to the next games.

"I needed to be a part of this. I play for my country. I'm proud to do it. There are no small games and I have given everything I have for City, I will always do this, but I do the same for my country."

City will be without Sergio Aguero for this weekend's match as he is currently nursing a hamstring injury.
