Manchester City assistant coach Brian Kidd believes that the club will need to strive for more glory in order to be considered a force in football.

Manchester City assistant coach Brian Kidd has insisted that the club have put their Premier League win to one side and have already begun planning for next season.

The blue half of Manchester were crowned English champions for the first time in 44 years on a dramatic final day of the season, but Kidd believes that Roberto Mancini's side have a long way to go before they can be deemed a dominant force.

"It is no good settling for [winning] the championship," said Kidd. "You have got to be hungry, you have got to go on and you have got to want more.

"The fans enjoyed it but, on the Monday morning, we started again. It was the same at Liverpool all those years ago. They won it and that was it. They moved on.

"You could see after they came off the pitch the players still had the hunger and desire. But there is a long way to go before people can start talking about dynasties. Manchester City won the FA Cup. Now they have won the league. It is a good start. Hopefully we can build off that."

Meanwhile, City's transfer plans look to be in full swing with reports claiming that the North West outfit are ready to bid £25m for Athletic Bilbao defender Javi Martinez.
