Kevin De Bruyne: 'Victory for Manchester City more than just three points'

Manchester City ace Kevin De Bruyne dedicates his side's 2-1 win at Old Trafford to the travelling supporters.

Kevin De Bruyne has hailed the importance of Manchester City's 2-1 victory against Manchester United by claiming that it is "worth more than three points" for his side.

The Citizens took complete control of the first half at Old Trafford, scoring twice through De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho to punish their opponents' sluggish start.

A blunder from debutant goalkeeper Claudio Bravo gave United a route back into the game shortly before the interval, but Pep Guardiola's men were able to hold out for the remainder to make it four wins from four.

"It feels very good. We started the game with intensity," De Bruyne told Sky Sports News. "Both teams showed their quality. The second half was more difficult - they played powerfully and with long balls. I think we just missed the third goal in the second half.

"The game changed after their goal. In the first half we were excellent, after the first 15 minutes in the second half we came back stronger and had to adapt to their style of play.

"For the fans the victory is worth more than three points - for us we just have to maintain the same. The fans will celebrate tonight."

Man City turn attention to the Champions League in midweek when welcoming Borussia Monchengladbach to the Etihad Stadium.
