Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is expected to overcome a recent calf injury just in time for the start of the new Premier League season.
The Belgium international alerted fears that he could be sidelined for the beginning of City's defence of their title after picking up the injury in City's 2-0 win over Arsenal in a pre-season friendly a fortnight ago.
The 26-year-old, who was forced to fly home from City's tour of Asia, has not played since picking up the calf strain but reports have claimed that the centre-back has completed a full training session.
The defender is expected to be available for Sunday's Community Shield clash against Chelsea at Villa Park.
