Roberto Mancini: 'My job was never at risk'

Roberto Mancini insists that he was never worried about losing his Manchester City job to Pep Guardiola, who will take over at Bayern Munich.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has insisted that he was never worried about losing his job to Pep Guardiola.

The former Barcelona coach was linked with a move to the Premier League champions at the end of the season, but will join Bayern Munich in the summer instead.

"I didn't have any problem for this," ESPNSoccernet quotes Mancini as saying. "I understand the newspapers should write that every manager want to take this job because it is a good job.

"But I think we work very well here, I have a five-year contract and I think this is possible [to stay] for five years.

"I think that after one year he (Guardiola) decides to go to another team. Bayern Munich is one of the top clubs in the world for its history, like Barca. If he decides this, it is because it is the best solution for him."

City are seven points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United in second place.
