Oldham Athletic 2-1 Manchester City

Premier League champions Manchester City have been beaten 2-1 by League One side Oldham at Boundary Park.

A strong Manchester City side were beaten 2-1 by League One team Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on Tuesday evening.

Attilio Lombardio took charge of the team that included Joe Hart, Joleon Lescott, Samir Nasri and James Milner following their return to pre-season following Euro 2012.

Robbie Simpson gave the minnows a surprise lead with a well-placed shot that Joe Hart could only watch hit the back of the net.

City couldn't find a goal until the 53rd minute when Roque Santa Cruz calmly slotted the ball home after beating the offside trap.

The Premier League champions made a number of changes with 30 minutes remaining as the first team regulars were replaced by members of the elite development squad.

However, Jonathan Grounds secured victory for Oldham with a powerful effort in injury time to surprise the visitors and the home crowd in equal measure.
