Erling Braut Haaland is not in the matchday squad for Manchester City's Premier League clash with Leicester City, while Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez are both named on the bench.

Erling Braut Haaland is not in the matchday squad for Manchester City's Premier League clash with Leicester City.

The Norwegian emerged as a doubt for the trip to the King Power Stadium after coming off at half time in the goalless draw with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday with a combination of fatigue, illness and a minor foot injury.

Pep Guardiola stated in his pre-match press conference that the 22-year-old was 'feeling better' but the striker misses out entirely, with Julian Alvarez given the nod up front instead.

Guardiola has made a total of seven changes to the side that drew with Dortmund, with Ederson, Manuel Akanji, Aymeric Laporte, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and Alvarez all returning to the first XI.

Goalkeeper Ederson replaces Stefan Ortega, who was handed his full debut in midweek, and the Brazilian will be protected by a back four of John Stones, Akanji, Laporte and Joao Cancelo.

De Bruyne will be fresh for this afternoon's contest after watching on from the bench against Dortmund, and the playmaker will operate in a three-man midfield against Leicester alongside Rodri and captain Ilkay Gundogan.

Alvarez is joined in attack by Bernardo and Grealish, with Phil Foden and former Leicester man Riyad Mahrez among the substitutes.

As for Leicester, who beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 last time out, the likes of James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes are all named in the starting lineup.

Leicester City starting lineup: Ward; Castagne, Amartey, Faes, Soyuncu, Justin; Maddison, Tielemans, Dewsbury-Hall; Barnes, Vardy

Subs: Iversen, Thomas, Ndidi, Mendy, Praet, Perez, Albrighton, Iheanacho, Daka

Manchester City starting lineup: Ederson; Stones, Akanji, Laporte, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan; Bernardo, Alvarez, Grealish

Subs: Ortega, Carson, Dias, Ake, Gomez, Lewis, Wilson-Esbrand, Mahrez, Foden
