Manchester City's search for Fernandinho's long-term successor has reportedly seen them turn to Atletico Madrid ace Thomas Partey.

Manchester City have reportedly switched focus to Atletico Madrid ace Thomas Partey in their search for a new holding midfielder.

The Citizens have struggled without Fernandinho in their squad over the past week - the only natural defensive midfielder in their ranks.

City are believed to have looked at signing Frenkie de Jong, but they face competition from a number of clubs and Ajax will not consider selling until the end of the season at the earliest.

According to a report carried by the Manchester Evening News, Pep Guardiola's side are now considering Partey as a possible option and have enquired about the possibility of bringing him in next month.

The 25-year-old, used more regularly in a more advanced central midfield position this season, is believed to be considering an end-of-season exit from Atletico.
