Manchester City 'to use Nicolas Otamendi in Lucas Martinez Quarta deal'

Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi is reportedly open to representing River Plate, potentially as a makeweight in a deal involving Lucas Martinez Quarta.

Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi is reportedly open to representing River Plate in the future.

While Otamendi has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season, it has previously been suggested that the centre-back's future will be away from the Etihad Stadium.

In recent days, TNT has claimed that City are considering an approach for Lucas Martinez Quarta, who is said to have impressed Pep Guardiola.

Amid reports that Otamendi could be offered in part-exchange, the same outlet says that the 32-year-old is 'a fanatical supporter' of the Argentine giants.

The centre-back has not represented a team in his homeland since departing Velez Sarsfield for Porto in 2010.

Otamendi still has just over two years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
