Real Betis clinch the loan signing of Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz.

Manchester City forward Roque Santa Cruz has joined La Liga club Real Betis on a season-long loan deal.

The Paraguayan international has struggled to make an impact under City boss Roberto Mancini and spent the second half of last season on loan at former club Blackburn Rovers.

The 30-year-old had been linked with a move to the Championship but has now become Betis' eighth signing of the summer.

"After intensive negotiations, the sports management has managed to close the addition of Roque Santa Cruz, who will play next season on loan at Betis," read a statement on the club's official website.

Betis have agreed to pay the Premier League club a reported £1.3m fee for the player.
