Paul Ince: 'Paul Scholes should not go to Euro 2012'

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince insists that Paul Scholes should not return to England duty.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince believes that Paul Scholes should not travel with the England squad for Euro 2012 this summer.

Scholes, 37, has enjoyed a productive end to the season with United, and has been touted as a possible member of the England squad for the European Championships.

However, Ince has insisted that the idea of Scholes being a member of the squad is "sad".

"Manchester United, yes, because he can have his rest. He's 37 now. But going with England, I think it's kind of sad," Ince told talkSPORT.

"I'm not being disrespectful to Scholesy, because he's a great player, but if England are relying on a 37-year-old old to come to their rescue then we must have problems."

Scholes retired from England duty in 2004.
