Project Restart: Sheffield United's remaining 2019-20 Premier League fixtures

Ahead of the Premier League restart next week, Sports Mole looks at the remaining fixtures facing European-chasing Sheffield United.

When the Premier League was brought to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sheffield United had been building momentum in their bid to earn European football next season.

A return of 10 points from four matches had moved the Blades into seventh position, while also still possessing a game in hand on many of their nearest rivals.

That will take place against Aston Villa on June 17, with victory for the Yorkshire outfit taking them ahead of Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the standings.

The trip to the West Midlands represents the first of three successive away fixtures for Sheffield United in the top flight, a period split up by their FA Cup quarter-final with Arsenal.

Visits to Newcastle United and Man United are scheduled within the space of three days before Chris Wilder's team are due to take on Tottenham Hotspur at Bramall Lane.

Should his team continue where they left off before lockdown, Wilder will be confident of guaranteeing a top-six spot during the remaining weeks of the campaign.

An away encounter at Burnley is followed by back-to-back home tussles with Wolves and Chelsea, teams who are competing with Sheffield United for a spot in either the Champions League or Europa League.

Either side of their final home clash of the season against Everton, Wilder and his players face contests against Leicester City and Southampton on away territory.
