Carrick: 'We don't get enough credit'

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick believes that the club do not receive the credit they deserve for winning their 20th league title.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick believes that he and his teammates deserve more credit for leading the club to their 20th league title.

The England international has hit out at claims that the Red Devils have only triumphed this season due to their competitors being below par.

United grabbed the title with four games left to play following their 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Monday, leaving a 16-point gap between themselves and second-placed Manchester City.

"It is strange," The Express quotes Carrick as saying. "Every time we have won the title, people say it has always been because other teams have let themselves down.

"I have been here seven years, and twice we have lost it, we have been written off massively, but we have come back and won it again.

"It seems we are never quite good enough. You can never please everyone. To do that would need a clean sweep of trophies, which is highly unlikely."

United are expected to receive a guard of honour from Arsenal when they travel to the Emirates this Sunday.
