Sir Bobby Charlton confesses that he is a little surprised by Manchester United's winning start to the new season.

Sir Bobby Charlton is delighted with the way that Manchester United have begun the new Premier League season.

The reigning champions sit top of the table with a two-point cushion over local rivals Manchester City, having won all five of their opening matches.

After seeing his former team defeat Chelsea 3-1 at Old Trafford yesterday, the 73-year-old admitted that there is a positive vibe around Old Trafford at the moment.

"You never know at the start what's going to happen but United have got off to a flier," said the 73-year-old.

"It's a very unusual start for Manchester United but it's fantastic.

"The fans are enjoying it and even those who are just general football fans because of the way we play. Even the goals we are scoring are dramatic."

Charlton won three Division One titles during his playing career with United.
