Angel di Maria: "We're beginning something new"

Angel di Maria insists that Manchester United are moving in the right direction under Louis van Gaal's management.

Angel di Maria believes that Manchester United are "beginning something new" with Louis van Gaal at the helm.

Following the 1-0 defeat to Southampton at the weekend, the Red Devils have 37 points from 21 outings - the same tally that they had at this stage last season under David Moyes's guidance.

However, Di Maria has insisted that all of the players and management are "working hard" to put the 20-time champions of England "back where [they belong]".

"From the start of the season to now, you can see that we've grown. We weren't so great at the beginning but we've started getting a few victories under our belts," the Argentine told MUTV.

"There are some people saying that we're not playing in a particularly good style or that it's not the old Manchester United, but it's not.

"We're beginning something new here. We've got a new style, we've got a new manager and we're all working hard to make sure we're putting Manchester United back where it belongs."

Next up for United is a trip to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
