Patrice Evra: 'Paul Pogba a huge loss for Manchester United'

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra insists that Paul Pogba was a "huge loss" for the club after his free transfer to Juventus last summer.

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has insisted that letting Paul Pogba leave was a huge mistake for the Red Devils, declaring that the young midfielder is still sorely missed.

Pogba swapped United for Juventus in 2012 after growing frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities at Old Trafford, after failing to persuade Sir Alex Ferguson that he deserved a starting spot.

The French international has gone on to become a key player for Juve, becoming a firm fixture in central midfield for the Italian champions.

Evra has revealed that his Les Blues colleague left a lasting impression on senior squad members at United, while ruing his exit on a free transfer.

He told Football Italia: "Someone with Pogba's talent and personality are rare things.

"He was a boy who was respected by the older players like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes. Even if he did not make an impression on the coach, he made an impression on his teammates.

"It was a huge loss for us."

The 20-year-old has been ever-present for Juve so far this season, while also scoring his first goal for France in his third cap last month.
