Ryan Giggs: 'I cried after final game in charge of Manchester United'

Ryan Giggs reveals that he cried following his last appearance for Manchester United in last month's 1-1 draw against Southampton.

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has revealed that he cried following his last game in charge of the club last month.

The Welshman brought his 27-year career at Old Trafford to an end when he overlooked the Red Devils' 1-1 draw against Southampton at St Mary's.

"We got off the plane at Manchester Airport and I was saying goodbye to the players, thanking them and potentially saying goodbye to a lot of players for the last time," he told ITV Sport.

"I'm not an emotional man - well, I didn't think I was - but my car was parked right outside and I thought 'I need to get in my car here'. I could feel myself getting emotional.

"So I get in my car and I just started crying, started getting really emotional and I think it was just a mixture of what I've just said, saying goodbye to people for maybe the last time and the pressure that I put myself under."

Giggs took charge of United's last four games of the season following the dismissal of David Moyes.
