Ryan Giggs: 'No European football can help Manchester United'

Ryan Giggs believes that a lack of European football can help Manchester United in the Premier League next season.

Manchester United interim manager Ryan Giggs has claimed that a lack of European football can help the team next season.

The Red Devils missed out on a place in the Europa League on Sunday as they ended their Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

However, Giggs believes that fewer fixtures next term could benefit the side in their quest to regain the title.

"You can view it in different ways," he told MUTV. "We've got a big squad and some of the players might not get as much game time if we're not in Europe, but if we go on two good cup runs they might get the games.

"I am looking on it in a positive way and I am hoping it will help us in our league form, but we'll have to wait and see."

Giggs claimed on Sunday that the managerial situation at Old Trafford would be "sorted in the next week" amid reports that Louis van Gaal will take charge of the team following the World Cup.
