Zlatan Ibrahimovic handed number nine shirt at Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will wear the number nine shirt for Manchester United during the 2016-17 campaign, while Anthony Martial has switched to 11.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will wear the number nine shirt for Manchester United during the 2016-17 campaign.

The 34-year-old, who joined the Red Devils on a free transfer this summer, has taken the famous number from Anthony Martial, who has been handed number 11, which previously belonged to Adnan Januzaj.

Fellow new signings Eric Bailly and Henrik Mkhitaryan have been handed numbers three and 22 respectively, while Juan Mata keeps the number eight despite reports that the number was being held for Paul Pogba, who continues to be linked with a return to Old Trafford.

The shirt numbers, however, are still deemed provisional at this stage.
