Manchester United players 'want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on permanent basis'

The Manchester United first-team squad are reportedly keen for caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to remain at Old Trafford on a full-time basis.

The Manchester United first-team squad have reportedly been left convinced that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should remain as manager on a full-time basis.

Jose Mourinho was removed from his position in the dugout last month, with Solskjaer being handed a contract until the end of the season after being loaned to United by Norwegian club Molde.

However, Solskjaer has won each of his five matches in charge in convincing fashion, and it appears that the club legend has impressed behind the scenes.

According to The Mirror, United's players have welcomed Solskjaer's approach on the training ground with the forward-thinking players said to have relished the opportunity to play with more freedom.

The report suggests that chief executive Ed Woodward is also delighted with the impact made by the 45-year-old since his arrival before the Christmas period.

United have scored 16 goals from five matches in all competitions ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.
