Jose Mourinho 'agrees personal terms with Manchester United'

Jose Mourinho reportedly agrees personal terms with Manchester United to become the club's new manager.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester United to become the club's new manager.

The 53-year-old's representatives met with club officials earlier today to discuss a deal for the former Chelsea boss to replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman was sacked on Monday, just two days after steering the club to FA Cup glory, having failed to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

Mourinho has been heavily linked with the post since he was sacked by Chelsea in December, and Sky Sports News reports that the deal is now close to being finalised.

The three-time Premier League winner is understood to have agreed terms on the length of his contract and salary, but negotiations are still ongoing regarding image rights.

Mourinho currently has a commercial deal with Jaguar, which United are reportedly worried could come into conflict with their seven-year association with General Motors.

The deal is still expected to be completed within the next 48 hours, though, with official confirmation most likely to come on Thursday.

Mourinho has won eight league titles in four different countries and boasts the best win ratio of any manager in Premier League history to have taken charge of five or more games.
