Manchester United reportedly reach an agreement with Ralf Rangnick to become the club's new interim manager until May.

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Ralf Rangnick to become the club's new interim manager for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign.

Michael Carrick took charge of the Red Devils against Villarreal on Tuesday, leading the team to a 2-0 victory, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's removal as head coach at the weekend.

Man United are said to be keen to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their long-term manager but will seemingly have to wait until the end of the season to acquire him from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils have therefore been searching for an interim manager, with former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde, at one stage, believed to be the favourite.

However, according to The Athletic, Rangnick, who is currently head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow, has agreed a six-month deal with the 20-time English champions.

The report claims that the agreement will see the 63-year-old take on a two-year consultancy role at the club after his interim manager's contract has come to an end in May.

Rangnick, who will not be in charge for Sunday's clash with Chelsea as he waits for a work permit, managed RB Leipzig in two separate spells between 2015 and 2019.
