Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has called the Red Devils "disgusting to watch" in their 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on Tuesday night.
Mohamed Salah netted twice, while Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane were also on the scoresheet, as Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table with a comfortable victory at Anfield.
Man United struggled to make their mark for long stages of the contest, and Scholes has said that the players let the supporters down with their "disgusting" display at the home of their bitter rivals.
"I've lost a little bit of anger towards it (United's poor season) now, I feel saddened, it's not great to watch," Scholes told Premier League Productions.
"I'd like to see them give at least a little bit of effort, it looks like the last place they want to be. They want their season over, they want it done, they want to move on, but unfortunately there's no hiding place. You can't come to Anfield and be like that.
"Them fans have travelled a long way, it's disgusting to watch. But that's where the club are at the minute. They've got to give a little bit of effort, just for them fans coming to the ground."
Man United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, ahead of Sunday's clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
