Tom Thorpe looking for more Manchester United chances

Manchester United defender Tom Thorpe admits that he is pleased to see youngsters getting a chance to play for the club in light of Louis van Gaal's side's injury crisis.

Manchester United defender Tom Thorpe has revealed that he was elated to make his first-team debut for the Red Devils in their 2-1 win over West Ham United last week.

Thorpe replaced Angel di Maria in injury time of the victory at Old Trafford, while fellow youngster Paddy McNair played the entire game at centre-back alongside Marcos Rojo.

The 21-year-old has admitted that he is pleased to see the club's young players getting an opportunity in light of recent injuries in Louis van Gaal's side.

"Paddy did really well," Thorpe told the club's official website. "His header basically saved a goal so he did great.

"Obviously I was delighted to get on and hopefully there is more to come. I was very pleased, being a United fan and having been here from such a young age. To come through and get my first-team debut, I was very happy.

"You can see a few lads making their debuts this season and the ones who have been in the team have done really well. As soon as you get a little bit, you want more and hopefully there will be."

United face Everton in their Premier League clash on Sunday at Old Trafford.
