Manchester United 'to unveil Louis van Gaal as new manager within 24 hours'

Manchester United will reportedly announce the appointment of Louis van Gaal as their new boss in the next 24 hours.

Manchester United will reportedly unveil Louis van Gaal as their new manager within the next 24 hours.

The Dutchman has agreed a two-year contract at Old Trafford with the option of a one-year extension on a salary of £7m per season, according to The Mirror.

Van Gaal is said to have held talks with United's interim manager Ryan Giggs with a view to appointing the Welshman as his deputy.

There have also been reports that former Red Devils goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar could be convinced to return to Old Trafford as part of Van Gaal's coaching staff.

Giggs has been in charge at United since the sacking of David Moyes last month.
