Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo takes to Twitter to thank Sir Alex Ferguson.

Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked Sir Alex Ferguson for his part in developing the Portuguese skipper as a player.

Ronaldo, who spent six seasons at United and scored 118 goals in the process, also affectionately called the Scot "boss" on his Twitter account.

"Thanks for everything, boss," Ronaldo tweeted.

The Portugal international has recently been linked with a return to Old Trafford.
