Shinji Kagawa takes on an attacking midfield role for Manchester United's pre-season encounter against Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.

Japanese international Shinji Kagawa will start in an attacking midfield role during Manchester United's pre-season friendly against Shanghai Shenhua this afternoon.

The 23-year-old will offer support to Federico Macheda, who has been selected as a lone striker.

Elsewhere, Michael Carrick will play alongside Rio Ferdinand in defence, while summer signing from Crewe Alexandra Nick Powell has been handed a role in the midfield.

Former Chelsea duo Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka have not been included in the Shenhua lineup.
