Chelsea have joined the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to a report.
Zakaria has long been touted as a target for Premier League champions Liverpool, while Manchester United and Manchester City have more recently been linked.
The 23-year-old has impressed in his three seasons in the Bundesliga with Gladbach and is also a regular for the Switzerland national side.
German outlet Bild claims that Zakaria has now attracted more interest from England, with Chelsea eyeing up the Servette academy product.
Frank Lampard is said to consider Zakaria a good option to bolster his midfield ranks and protect his frail backline.
Chelsea spent £220m on new players this calendar year, securing deals for Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Edouard Mendy.
