Benfica may reportedly be prepared to sell Darwin Nunez for £51m during the summer transfer window.
From an individual perspective, the 22-year-old has enjoyed the best year of his career, contributing 32 goals in Primeira Liga and the Champions League.
Such has been the interest in his signature that Benfica were allegedly ready to insist on a fee somewhere close to his release clause being paid for his services.
However, according to The Athletic, the Portuguese giants are willing to consider bids in the region of £51m, rather than in excess of £100m.
Manchester United are allegedly in competition for the Uruguay international with the likes of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, who will no doubt be encouraged by the reported developments.
The report adds that Benfica will insist on any deal for Nunez being completed during the early part of the summer as they look to ensure that they sign one of their preferred targets as a replacement.
