Manchester United keeper David de Gea is reportedly holding out for close to double the salary he is currently earning at the club, amid strong interest from Real Madrid.

David de Gea has demanded wages of £350,000 a week to stay on as Manchester United's number one, according to a report.

The Spain international is said to be using strong interest from Real Madrid to his advantage, as he feels that he is worth the £18m-a-year salary.

De Gea, whose reputation continues to grow following a star showing against Sevilla in midweek, is currently on around half that figure.

United could bow to the 27-year-old's demands as they fear Madrid have the ability to tempt him with a superior offer in the summer, with The Sun reporting that the Red Devils are desperate to keep their first-choice keeper happy.

January signing Alexis Sanchez is currently the highest earner at Old Trafford on £505,000 a week, while Paul Pogba is on a similarly lucrative contract.
