Sir Alex Ferguson: Manchester United spending is "amazing"

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admits that he is "amazed" by the figure that the club spent during the recent transfer window.

Sir Alex Ferguson has described the amount of money that Manchester United spent during this summer's transfer widow as "amazing".

Louis van Gaal's side paid out around £150m to bring the likes of Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Angel di Maria to Old Trafford ahead of Monday's deadline.

The former United manager told reporters: "Certainly it's amazing, the amount of money spent nowadays.

"My personal opinion is that it's never going to change, the world is progressing, and transfer fees with it, and I don't know if there will be an end to it. Fortunately, I'm not at the hub of it nowadays."

Di Maria's arrival at the club broke the British transfer record, with the Premier League side paying £59.7m for the Argentine.
