Manchester United 'handed boost in Alex Telles chase'

Manchester United are reportedly handed a boost in the race to sign Porto defender Alex Telles, who will be allowed to leave for a fee below his release clause.

Porto are reportedly prepared to consider offers for Alex Telles which are below the player's release clause.

Although the left-back has been a key player at the Portuguese giants, the Brazilian will leave this summer due to his contract expiring in 2021.

While Telles has a release clause in the region of £35m, it appears that Porto are willing to part ways with the 27-year-old for much less than that figure.

According to A Bola, the league champions are now happy to accept an offer of just £18m, a development which will alert clubs in the Premier League.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the player, while Wolverhampton Wanderers could also attempt to negotiate a deal for the attack-minded full-back.

Further discussions regarding Telles's future are expected to take place over the coming days.
