Juan Mata, Ander Herrera seek Manchester United exit if Louis van Gaal stays?

A report claims that Spanish duo Juan Mata and Ander Herrera may consider leaving Manchester United if Louis van Gaal remains the club's manager.

Juan Mata and Ander Herrera could reportedly look to leave Manchester United if Louis van Gaal is able to save his job as manager.

It has been widely reported that Van Gaal may be relieved of his duties at Old Trafford were the Red Devils to lose either of their upcoming festive fixtures against Stoke City and Chelsea.

However, should the Dutchman survive those games, The Times has claimed that it may lead United's Spanish duo to consider their respective futures at the club.

The report adds that the pair feel stifled by Van Gaal's tactics and fear that the situation may cost them a chance of making the Spain squad for next summer's European Championships.

Mata has been used by Van Gaal on a regular basis this season, although it is thought that the 27-year-old would prefer to operate in a more central attacking role, rather than playing out on the wing.

As for Herrera, he has struggled to hold down a regular place in the manager's starting lineup ever since he arrived from Athletic Bilbao in 2014. Of 71 matches, the midfielder has started 32 times.
