Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly reluctant to part ways with Jesse Lingard during the January transfer window.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would reportedly prefer to keep midfielder Jesse Lingard at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old has endured a frustrating campaign, making just three appearances in cup competitions since the beginning of September.

Despite United triggering a 12-month option in his contract, it has been suggested that the England international could go out on loan before the end of January.

However, according to ESPN, Solskjaer would like to retain the services of the playmaker for the second part of the season.

While United will reduce their first-team squad over the coming weeks, Solskjaer is allegedly against losing too many of his squad players ahead of a hectic schedule.

The report is a blow to the likes of Sheffield United, who had emerged as one of the favourites to sign Lingard on a temporary basis.
