Manchester United, Liverpool interested in Dani Alves?

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool reportedly join the race to sign Barcelona full-back Dani Alves on a free transfer at the end of this season.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Barcelona full-back Dani Alves on a free transfer next summer.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of next season and is said to be a target for Juventus.

His Camp Nou career seems to be winding down, with new Barca manager Luis Enrique having signed right-back Douglas from Sao Paulo this summer and keen to consolidate Martin Montoya in the first XI.

The Express claims that Liverpool will pursue Alves as a replacement for Glen Johnson, whose Anfield contract expires in 2015, but adds that United boss Louis van Gaal is also interested in the Brazilian.

Alves has won four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues since joining Barca from Sevilla in 2008.
