Manchester United emerge as surprise contenders to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a surprise summer move for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The Red Devils have earmarked the Sky Blues outcast as potential back-up for first-choice stopper David De Gea, according to The Sun.

United are expected to be in need of a new reserve goalkeeper next season, with Sergio Romero tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Hart, meanwhile, is not expected to be a part of City boss Pep Guardiola's plans next season, having been shipped out on loan to Torino and West Ham United since the Spaniard took charge of the Premier League champions.

United are also said to be considering Celtic's Craig Gordon and West Bromwich Albion stopper Ben Foster as potential replacements for Romero.
