Louis van Gaal refuses to comment on reports that Danny Welbeck can leave

Louis van Gaal refuses to address speculation that he has told Danny Welbeck that he is no longer needed at Manchester United.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has refused to comment on speculation linking Danny Welbeck with a move away from Old Trafford.

Reports have emerged today claiming that the Dutchman has told Welbeck that he is allowed to leave the club for pastures new.

However, it is believed that the 23-year-old will not be sold to a club who are likely to challenge for a top-six place in the Premier League.

When asked about the reports in this afternoon's press conference, Van Gaal said: "I know what I said to Danny Welbeck and he knows exactly what I said. I think the media is guessing."

The England international has been linked to Hull City and Sunderland within the last couple of weeks.
