Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly make a decision over Ruben Neves's asking price ahead of expected interest in his signature this summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly set the asking price of midfielder Ruben Neves, who is expected to attract interest this summer.

At the end of last season, Neves openly acknowledged that he was interested in taking on a new challenge away from Molineux with Wolves no longer contenders for European qualification.

However, a lack of suitable bids led to Wolves retaining the services of the Portugal international, who has made 28 appearances in the Premier League this season.

The West Midlands outfit would ideally like to keep hold of the 26-year-old, but his contract situation will seemingly dictate that he leaves at the end of 2022-23.

Neves currently has just over 14 months remaining on his existing terms, and it has been claimed in the past that Wolves may attempt to negotiate a new deal.

According to The Telegraph, that has become less likely in recent weeks with both parties having agreed to halt discussions.

The report claims that Wolves would be willing to accept offers in the region of £40m during the next transfer window, a price tag which may interest his admirers.

Arsenal and Manchester United have both been linked with Neves over recent months with the two English sides said to be ready to strengthen in the centre of the pitch.

While it remains to be seen whether either club would be prepared to meet that desired figure, securing the services of a player proven in the Premier League could be regarded as value for money.

Mikel Arteta is likely to add at least one new midfielder to his squad, with Neves potentially viewed as a cheaper alternative to West Ham United's Declan Rice.

United have been tipped to sell Scott McTominay in the summer, something which could lead to the academy graduate being replaced by someone in the mould of Neves.

Although Neves has long been viewed as Wolves' key man, making a total of 246 appearances in all competitions since 2017, Julen Lopetegui's side have recently defeated Chelsea and Brentford when he was unavailable through suspension.

Wolves also acquired Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes in January, leaving Wolves with like-for-like replacements already at the club should they decide to cash in on one of their most prized assets.
