How Manchester United could line up with Harry Kane, Jadon Sancho

Amid speculation linking Manchester United with two huge summer signings, Sports Mole looks at how the Red Devils could line up with both Harry Kane and Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United fans have every reason to be excited for the summer transfer window if the growing speculation over their targets are to be believed.

The 20-time English champions have suffered a fall from grace since the 2013 retirement of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, something which even a huge outlay on new transfers has been unable to prevent.

Ten of United's 11 most expensive signings of all time have come in the post-Ferguson era, with many of them failing to live up to their hefty price tags, including Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Angel Di Maria.

The Red Devils could be set to shatter their own club-record signing twice this summer, though, with reports suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane would be willing to consider a move to Old Trafford and Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho favours United over other interested parties.

Both players would be expected to command nine-figure fees, with Spurs thought to want at least £150m for Kane and Dortmund demanding £122m for 19-year-old Sancho.

Obtaining both players could be a financial hurdle to overcome, then, but here Sports Mole looks at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side could look if they were to pull off the mega-money double swoop.

The arrival of these two star names would immediately give United an attacking unit which could rival any of the best in Europe - Kane leading the line with a trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Sancho behind him.

Kane's prolific nature appears to be exactly what United have been missing in recent years, with the England skipper having scored 181 goals in just 278 appearances for Spurs, and the creativity of those in support could well see that goals-per-game ratio improve even more.

Fernandes and Sancho have a whopping 34 assists between them already this season, and should Kane suffer a rare off day then they are more than capable of weighing in with goals as well; Fernandes has 18 across all competitions this term, while Sancho has 17 to add to his 18 assists.

Add Rashford's 19 goals and five assists as well as Kane's 17 goals to the equation and that front four boast a formidable 112 goal contributions from 123 games between them in 2019-20.

Should United be able to restore Pogba to his world-class best following an injury-plagued campaign then that attacking threat becomes even more potent, although in reality the French World Cup winner may need to be sold if United are to afford both Kane and Sancho while staying within Financial Fair Play rules.

If Pogba does leave then Fred looks increasingly ready to step up to the plate having finally begun to justify his own price tag, while Scott McTominay is another who has enhanced his reputation so far this season.

Two more of United's most expensive signings come in defence with Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while the homegrown Brandon Williams continues to challenge Luke Shaw for a spot at left-back.

There has been speculation linking United with Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly in what would be another big-money deal and, while his arrival would undoubtedly improve the defence, it is unlikely that they would be able to afford three signings in excess of £100m in one transfer window.

The one aspect which could make that possible would be player sales and, in addition to Pogba, David de Gea has been increasingly linked with a move away from the club following a string of errors and on-loan Dean Henderson's good form at Sheffield United.
