Rafael Benitez: 'Newcastle United players must think about the future'

Rafael Benitez suggests to his Newcastle United players following Saturday's 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion that their futures could be under review this summer.

Rafael Benitez has reminded his Newcastle United players that their futures may be under review at the end of the season.

The Magpies secured their Premier League status with four straight wins in March and April but have since suffered back-to-back defeats to Everton and West Bromwich Albion.

Speaking after the 1-0 loss to the Baggies on Saturday, a bemused Benitez urged his players to finish the season as strongly as possible.

"After the great season we have done, it's a pity to see this kind of game," the Spaniard told Sky Sports News.

"For some players, they have to realise we have to think about the future. We cannot finish in a bad way.

"We have three games to play and we have to replicate what we did over the whole season. We have done really well and have to try and do this until the end."

Newcastle wrap up the season with games against Watford, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
